Antenna Research Engineer
Pivotal Commware is a Seattle company productizing revolutionary software defined antenna systems. Our Holographic Beamforming Antenna technology enables fast, dynamic control of an antenna beam profile with vastly reduced cost, size, weight and power consumption relative to traditional phased array antenna systems. Pivotal is using this technology to disrupt a number of markets where phased array performance is needed in commercially viable envelopes for both the private and public sectors.
Pivotal is seeking an Experienced Antenna Research Engineer to support and lead fast-paced R&D projects while working closely with a small group of scientists, engineers and business leaders in a start-up environment. The candidate will be responsible for the design and analysis of RF systems and sub-systems including identifying requirements, writing specifications, and analyzing system performance. In addition, the candidate should be skilled in project planning, budget & schedule management, and written and verbal communication. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to think creatively and to operate within a flexible, fast-paced program dedicated to advancing the state of the art in RF Holographic Beamforming. This position reports to the CTO.
Responsibilities:
- Apply state of the art theoretical techniques toward the optimal design of holographic beamforming apertures.
- Use full-wave solvers (Ansys HFSS), semi-analytical approaches, and numerical models to validate theoretical approach
- Prove out models with carefully designed experiments that reduce theory to practice
- Work with phased-arrays, leaky-wave antenna, electrically-steered arrays, MIMO or RF holography a plus.
- Manage risk and optimize workflow efficiency in a start-up environment
Qualifications:
- PhD with 2+ years industry experience as an Electrical Engineer, Applied Physics/Mathematics or related title
- The candidate should have a background in Electromagnetic and microwave theory and should understand the performance characteristics of passive and active RF components including amplifiers, oscillators, attenuators, mixers and filters
- The candidate will have knowledge of stochastic methods, linear analysis, advanced electromagnetics and numerical methods
- Experience with modeling tools such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansoft, HFSS or similar is a plus.
- Basic software skills in C, C++ and/or MATLAB
- The individual must have excellent communication skills and coordinate with a cross-disciplinary team throughout all phases of development
- Candidates should hold employment authorization that enables you to work for Pivotal Commware for an indefinite or unlimited period, without requiring Pivotal sponsorship or filing of a visa petition on your behalf.
