Network Protocol Interface Engineer

Pivotal Commware is a Seattle company productizing revolutionary software defined antenna systems. Our Holographic Beamforming Antenna technology enables fast, dynamic control of a antenna beam profiles with vastly reduced cost, size, weight and power consumption relative to traditional phased array antenna systems. Pivotal is using this technology to disrupt a number of markets where phased array performance is needed in commercially viable envelopes for both the private and public sectors.

Pivotal is seeking a Network Protocol Interface Engineer to support and lead fast-paced development projects with a small group of scientists, engineers, and business leaders in a startup environment. The candidate will be responsible for the design of network protocols for both proprietary and standard network communications (such as LTE, UMTS, CDMA, Wi-Fi, and GSM), including OTA platforms. In addition, the candidate will work with external partners to interface with the core network. The candidate will also drive customer-facing system components, working with software engineers to develop end user management software.

Responsibilities:

  • Design OTA platforms for various networks that may be based on LTE or WiMAX like architecture
  • Simulate LTE/WiMAX-like systems from RF planning to network user traffic
  • Design MIBs using SNMP for variety of network types and topologies
  • Interface with partners for NMS/EMS custom implementations
  • Manage end user software design and implementation
  • Manage risk and optimize workflow efficiency in a start-up environment
  • Interact with internal and external vendors/partners in the development and implementation of new network systems

Qualifications:

  • BS in EE, ECE, Comp E, Communications Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of experience as an LTE, network, or protocol engineer or similar title. MS preferred
  • Extensive experience with L1 to L3 processing applications for LTE and Wi-Fi
  • Experience interfacing with various points in a modern LTE network, from core network to fiber to antenna
  • Familiarity with typical eNB system architecture
  • OTA platform and management system design
  • Experience designing and using MIBs with SNMP
  • Knowledge of LTE release 10+, IEEE 802.11ac, and IEEE 802.11ad preferred
  • LTE or WiMAX OTA platform implementation experience a significant plus
  • Integrating system components for use with OSS tools
  • Candidates should hold employment authorization that enables you to work for Pivotal Commware for an indefinite or unlimited period, without requiring Pivotal sponsorship or filing of a visa petition on your behalf.
