Holographic beamforming Carrier Wrap Ep. 77
Posted on April 19, 2018
In this episode of Carrier Wrap, Pivotal Commware’s CEO discusses holographic beamforming technology, and we talk with Pryme’s president about trends in the use of LTE in public safety communications.
Brian Deutsch, CEO of Pivotal CommWare, explains holographic beamforming and potential use cases for the technology, from better management of inter-cell borders and interference, to reducing the amount of network sides and hardware needed to deploy 5G fixed wireless.
“These antennas actually don’t look all that much different in millimeter wave than something like you’re smartphone — super thin, flat panel. They use mostly off-the-shelf components,” said Deutsch. “The technology actually was born out of an understanding of optical holograms, which is why we call it holographic beamforming.”
